  5. Ribosomal protein S2 is one of the  proteins from the small ribosomal subunit.
  6. S2  belongs to a family of ribosomal  proteins which, on the basis of sequence
  7. similarities [1], groups:
  8.  
  9.  - Eubacterial S2.
  10.  - Algal and plants chloroplast S2.
  11.  - Plants mitochondrial S2.
  12.  - Yeast mitochondrial MRP4.
  13.  
  14. S2 is  a  protein of 235 to 394 amino-acid residues. As signature patterns, we
  15. selected two conserved regions.  One is located in the central section and the
  16. other in the C-terminal section.
